I
Believe in Magic
I
think everyone who writes about magic must somewhere in their secret
hearts believe to a certain extent.
The
idea behind my story is that magic is real if we just but look for it
in our daily lives.
Definition of magic
-
1a : the use of means (as charms or spells) believed to have supernatural power over natural forces b: magic rites or incantations
-
2a : an extraordinary power or influence seemingly from a supernatural source. Both pitchers, although they are older, haven't lost their magic. b: something that seems to cast a spell : enchantment all the mystery, magic and romance which belong to royalty alone — J. E. P. Grigg
-
3: the art of producing illusions by sleight of hand entertained with acts of jugglery and magic
When
I think of magic, I think of a flower blooming. To me that is real
magic.
The
things we don’t understand, say a higher technology than what we
understand, are traditionally considered to be magic.
To
someone who lived in pre-historic times, fire was magic. Modern
medicine is magic.
In
my opinion we don’t have to step outside our door to experience
magic. Each time we think or breathe it is magic. Each time our
imagination has a flight of fancy that is real magic.
The
power of love, sunshine, a plant growing from a seed, the feeling
from a tree, electricity, running water all these things are magic.
Then
there is the things we all consider a little more magic. Like
dragons. There are dragons. Little lizards that have wings so they
can glide. And little lizards that breathe out clouds of poisonous
gas. There are really dragon eggs.
Every
culture tells a story of creation. Every culture comes up with an
explanation of how things work.
Most
cultures have tales of little people, elves, pixies, fairies, etc.
Except in America. The Native Americans had stories of little people
but the modern transplanted Americans do not.
It
seems somehow in coming to America we left our little people behind.
The Lenape Indians tell of Little People that were here before they
came here. They were the true first Americans.
I
believe these first Americans may still be among us.
